019 IDA 2025 Annual Conference- Pre-Conference Sleep Apnoea Full day Hands-on Course, 9am - 5pm, Thursday 15th May 2025 The presentation will provide an evidence-based approach to Dental Sleep Medicine, in particular providing an overview of the range of sleep-related breathing conditions and exploring the latest NICE [2021] guidelines supporting the role of Dentists and intra-oral appliance therapy. We will explore the mode of action of intra-oral custom-made appliances and address the importance of optimising patient selection, design features and importantly highlighting the evidence summaries of their effectiveness in clinical practice. Dentists will be introduced to the the process of assessment of a patient presenting at their surgery with a complaint of 'snoring' and become familiar with the valid screening tools used to assess these patients in a quick and easy manner.
